Wool Clothing... Some Garments Are Much Better Than Others
Usually, the first thing you do when you jump out of bed each day is think about what you’re going to wear unless of course if it’s lounge lizard day in your house & you’re going to stay in your PJ’s. There’s lots to consider like the temperature, your activities, where you’re going, etc, etc.
If it’s a cold & windy winter’s day, a quick look out the window has you questioning the choice you made to get out of bed however, seeing as you really only have one option and that is to dress so you’re warm & dry all day. Wool clothing is the best choice for days such as this.
Being flexible, wool clothing is also a terrific choice for business wear or if you wish to appear more as a business person. There’s a lot of wool clothing available to suit this situation, you can purchase trousers, suits & sweaters, etc which are perfect for work wear or casual, after hours occasions. Being so comfortable to wear, wool is also a great choice for more leisurely wear as well.
Wool is extremely versatile, due in part to the fact to the large amount of types, styles & quality of wool available. This results in a huge variation in roughness, comfort and price. For example, you’re able to buy a pair of pure wool slacks for a lot less than you would pay for cashmere sweater. They are both made of wool, but it’s the type of wool and its roughness or softness that makes all the difference.
The rougher type of wool is used for over garments such as coats and jackets. This type of wool is cheaper due to its roughness & rough wool is not suitable to be worn close to the skin because it can be irritating & cause you to itch.
Largely, wool clothing is manufactured from finer type of wool, however this does not mean that there’s no variation in wool’s fineness. Many wool items are still be fairly itchy, and very often pure wool is not selected for use, generally a mix of wool and another materials are. That said, the finer merino wool sand cashmeres are extremely soft and are generally accepted as very comfortable to wear. Hence the higher price tag.
Cashmere and other soft wool is considered by all as something of a luxury however every type of wool is appreciated for its warmth, breathability and comfort. This type of garment material has been used for hundreds of years and today, it’s still an important & popular material in the clothing industry. Although recently, synthetic materials have gained popularity and sales of wool clothing has reduced become less popular, the blending of finer, softer wool still makes this versatile material a popular choice today in today’s market.
